tornillo de bolas, tornillo de rodillo sobre bolas Explanation: I disagree with the colleague about "husillo con bolas", since the definition does not include the fact that we are dealing with a "tornillo" and not an "husillo", i.e. we need a screw that rotates on ball bearings and therefore is threaded and not an "husillo", usually cylindrical but unthreaded. The whole setup is used: a) to reduce friction and b)to create a longitudinal movement(back and forth)by means of the rotation of the ball screw that rotates in place but makes another component move. A good example is a propeller on a plane, were the rotation of the ball screw changes the pitch of the propeller blades, from "feather" all the way to "reverse". By the way, in this case we add the word actuador to the definition, i.e. tornillo de bolas actuador. husillo de bolas Explanation: En España, la traducción correcta de "ball screw", sin duda alguna, es "husillo de bolas". Este término aparecía constantemente en la empresa de maquinaria donde trabajé durante tres años. El husillo de bolas es una parte crítica para la precisión de una máquina-herramienta, probablemente un torno, fresadora o centro de mecanizado (con lo cual tiene sentido que lo importen especialmente desde Alemania!).
