German term

um ihnen den Einstieg bei [Firma] bestmöglich zu gestalten

German to English Marketing Human Resources Collection of job advertisements of an Austrian company
Hello again,

DE:

How would you translate the part in asterisks into American English?

Best regards,

Discussion

philgoddard Jul 22, 2019:
I think the perpetrator of that sentence should be washing his or her mouth out with soap, not the person who pointed out that it's incorrect English.
Lancashireman Jul 21, 2019:
With your own suggestion It would be wrong to make this too idiomatic. After all, the client should not be trying to pass him/herself off as having native speaker competence when he/she is covertly getting his/her CV translated by a real pro.
A. & S. Witte (asker) Jul 21, 2019:
"In addition, I supervise the onboarding process for our new coworkers in the Administration Department, to make their first few months at Z as easy for them as possible."

the smoothest possible start [to their time at the firm/similar]

As with your other queries, there's more than one way to skin a cat here, too, but I'd suggest something with 'smoothest start'. In the context of the rest of the sentence, I'd be tempted to say something like:

"[...], which ensures that they have the smoothest possible start to their time at the firm"
"to give our new employees the smoothest possible start in their new roles"
etc. (there's lots of options!)

Reference examples:

"ensures passengers have the smoothest possible start to their holiday"

"paving the way for the smoothest possible start to their journey"

Thank you!
agree writeaway : As you say, many ways to go. I really don't see the difficulty or why UK and US English would differ to any extent here

Thank you - and yes, I agree. I'm a little baffled by the whole thing, to be honest...

AmE: to make their link-up with [ & Co./ corp> org.] an optimal (infield) success story

The link-up I have in my own (translation office) glossaries as a North Am. turn of phrase cf. infield pitch as a US/ Cuban baseballing metaphor and 'slam dunking' into the net from US basketball.

BTW, (trading as) a firm in BrE means - legalistically esp. in writs a partnership only
