Business email from a sales manager
Hi all -
I am translating a series of emails from French (France) sent between sales managers from a large personal care company and their distributors.
As with so many business emails they are using a lot of email shorthand language, throwing in the occasional English word.
In this email the sales manager is talking about making a pitch to potential distributors.
Here is the context:
Donc pas le meilleur Partner pour nous a cet état certainement sur Panama et Costa Rica ou nous avions le meilleur distributeur a date dans la région. Et nous allions le mettre probablement sur le pitch pour la Colombie pour avoir un bench de nego et tension avec notre meilleur choix [Société XXX].
Voilà, tu as la full Picture just in case
J’apprécie bcp que tu as fait signe car il viendra clairement vers moi après cet contact.
So, can someone help me decipher this phrase, "...bench de nego et tension..."?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Michael

Might lead to other better suggestions.

place where difficulties can be negotiated
The message reads that they've not found the best partner, while the best distributions and supplies to date in the region were found in Costa Rica and Panamá. An area where the difficulties can be negotiationed in Columbia with another choice of candidate was needed.

I think that bench stands for benchmark. the sense of the email is that they want to use the secondary choice to obtain better conditions with the primary choice

Sadly, I don't have access to the client...
Throughout the collection of files I am translating there are the occasional uses of English words, and virtually never are they used the way we use them...
As for the bench, if they meant "benchmarking" (which actually does not make much sense here, but what else?), then I guess there is a shift of meaning: from a traditional economic/marketing concept to smth like "comparative analysis, estimation, study".
As I understand it, he says: AAA is not the best partner. Moreover, we have the best distributor in that region. But let's try to pitch AAA for Columbia to compare all the pros and cons of AAA vs. XXX
