Source text - English Caudalie favors natural and environmentally friendly active ingredients, opposes animal testing, and makes an active decision to reduce waste on a daily basis. Founder Mathilde Thomas spoke with Stranded NYC about the skincare brand that awards us all the opportunity to make glam a lot more green.
Stranded: What inspired you to create Caudalie?
Mathilde: Our brand has a unique history. It all started in 1993, during an encounter on my family vineyard with Dr. Joseph Vercauteren. This encounter changed my life. Dr. Vercauteren is the world’s leading expert on grapevine polyphenols and resveratrol. He explained to my husband Bertrand and me that leftover grape skins and seeds from the harvest have extraordinary antioxidant power, which can be a greatly effective way to combat aging when used topically in skincare. It was from this knowledge that the Caudalie brand was created.
