Dear colleagues,
I was wondering whether and how it is possible to import TMs and glossaries into Wordfast. If know Wordfast can import TMX and Trados TMs. TMs coming from any other CAT tool should be exported into TMX from that same CAT tool, is that right. Is there any other solution or any brilliant software I don't know about that does such conversions?

I have the same question about glossaries: Wordfast uses tab-delimited glossaries. What other glossaries can be imported into Wordfast? If I have a glossary from any other programme is it possible to use it with Wordfast and how?
I'm just a bit "lost in conversion"...
Thanks a bunch
Fiona

The following is valid for WF 5.53q

Conversion, export to TMX: - in the WF toolbar, click on TM Editor (2nd green block from the right). In the following screen you have six tabs (Translation Memory ...BTM) and at the right side a Tools button. - in the following screen, under Special filters, in the drop-down list, there is an option: Export TM as TMX. You'll obtain a second file called xx.tmx. (note: the Wordfast TM must not contain more than one source language).

Conversion, import from TMX: just open it with Wordfast's main menu (the Select button). WF will do the conversion and will give a second TM, xx.txt.
Glossaries: you can only use tab-delimited glossaries in plain .txt format. If you have another format, prepare it in Word or in Excel and export it into .txt before connecting it to WF. Note: before using a new glossary, always "reorganise" it. ▲ Collapse
