Trying to import .tmx into MemoQ

Hi,

I'm trying to import a trados .tmx into Memoq version 6.0.

When I try and import it, the following error messages appear:

Line 17: [Warning] Bad Trados tag: ""

Also it says that entries in the TM have been "Skipped (different language code)"

Anyone know how to effectively resolve these errors? I don't understand the one about the language code as I had organised the settings with the correct language combination.

CSV is the surest way to import faulty TM's Dec 7, 2012

Yes, memoQ is very picky with TMX: if it encounters the slightest thing it doesn't like or considers non-standard, it will stop importing. When dealing with such imperfect TM's from the real world, the surest way to import them in memoQ is CSV. You can save your TMX to the Wordfast format using Olifant (or Xbench, or WfConverter) and then import the relevant columns manually via CSV (a Wordfast TM is a tab-delimited text file).

Hi Dominique,

Maybe my question is very stupid, but... Do I understand it right that I can import a WFC-TM in txt-format in MemoQ?

I thought I have to convert it (what I do with Olifant) first and then import.

Actually, I wanted to try it instead of writing, but I was very insecure because I had to categorize the field and I didn't known how, so I stopped and I am now writing.

In fact it is so that I mostly can import my converted WFC-TM into MemoQ, but I am always loosing some segments. MemoQ may mention that it skipped one row (saying that it was empty), but in fact, there is a lost (for example 6261 instead of 6303 segment left in MemoQ). So if I don't need to convert, I would be quite happy!
