I have been asked by a client to deliver a "Vectorized PDF" file. The original PDF file, created by Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, contains Farsi + English text. They have specifically told me to open it in Illustrator and save the file as vectorized PDF file. What does it mean? What should I do in this regard?
Thank you in advance for your helpful comments.
Mohammad Reza

is they want you to convert type to picture (In Illustrator- Type>Create outlines) in order the characters wouldn't become distorted opening the document on different systems.
By creating outlines the document (type) becomes uneditable, though.

ask client

To be sure that you understand what your client means when asking for a vectorized PDF, I suggest you contact your client and ask.
You and your client might not think about the same process.
Explain to the client what Uldis suggested, and that it means the client cannot do any editing.

I think what they actually want is creating outlines, as Uldis has mentioned, but the point is that the created Farsi PDF file is already "outlined", because Acrobat seemingly does not treat Farsi text as "typed".
Anyway, thanks a lot for your useful guidance. I will contact my client for more clarification.
Cheers,
Mohammad Reza

Vectorized PDF files

can be used and edited in applications such as AutoCad. There are several converter programs available to change a PDF file into formats such as DXF, DWG, DGN.
Check with your client if this is her/his intension.

I was always told to create outline fonts in Adobe Illustrator. It is also referred to as vectorized font. Yes, it cannot be edited but scaled or enlarged or rotated or transform as a graphic. Outlined font can be edited again in Illustrator, or indirectly by using Adobe Photoshop. Regards, Soonthon L.
