Transit advantages

Hello Claudia,
Although many people in this 'thread' have already pointed out some major advantages I would like to add some observations.
We are a two person translation agency, working both for major translation companies as well as for end-user customers. We use Trados, Across, Transit XV, SDLX and a few other proprietary systems. About 80% of the work we do is in Transit, because of its speed and reliability.
1. Transit (the full version) can handle many data formats, including e.g. Indesign, Powerpoint and many others. 2. It rarely crashes. 3. It captures ALL text in word documents, unlike Trados (e.g. text in headers, text boxes etc.), and does not go haywire when e.g. hyperlinks are included. 4. Very easy to move about in the language pairs, e.g. to change a previous segment, when you discover further on that a different translation is better. 5. Excellent filtering capabilities. (e.g. show all the segments containing a specific word).
The user interface is not as 'sexy' as the one of Trados, and the PE-version is rather bare and lacking some useful functions.
Also, it requires more skill/experience to define the right settings when importing a project, in order to use the software at is full potential.
Translate faster & easier, using a sophisticated CAT tool built by a translator / developer.
Accept jobs from clients who use Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast & major CAT tools.
