1) You're sooo 2009, darling. Wikipedia is not blocked at the moment.
2) Baidu Baike is usable for some things, but lacks anything like the breadth and editing of Wikipedia. Many articles on it are advertisements.

It's a translation of a piece of semi-comic reporting on the World Toilet Organization that starts with a riff on the WTO acronym - which doesn't work in Chinese, because the words for Trade and Toilet aren't the same.
4) The logic is simple: Wikipedia works because it's open to everyone. Baidu Baike can't be open because of state censorship. Therefore it is doomed to be lame. ▲ Collapse

Baike is okay for getting infos on some very chinese content (historical, literary), or checking the background of celebrities/companies that you wouldn't necessarily find elsewhere.
But it's not even close to be a chinese version of a universal knowledge project, like baidu.com is not even close to be a serious search engine. Those services are designed with very relative care for any ethics, especially when it comes to ad placements.
