Taking Back Our Right to Privacy
For us, your private data is sacred. We never use your data to target ads. We never disclose your data to third parties. We store only what is absolutely necessary for our messaging app to work.
In 2013, we gave millions of people power over their data with end-to-end encryption.
Today, we are giving hundreds of millions of users complete control of any private conversation they have ever had. You can now choose to delete any message you have sent or received for both sides in any private chat. The messages will disappear for both you and the other person — without leaving a trace.
Unsend Anything
The “Unsend” feature we introduced 2 years ago was only available for messages sent by you and only for 48 hours. Now you can remove messages you have sent or received, and there is no time limit. You can also fully delete any private chat from both your and the other person's device in just two taps.
Anonymous Forwarding
To make your privacy complete, we’ve also introduced a way to restrict who can forward your messages. When this setting is enabled, messages you send that are forwarded by another user will no longer lead to your profile — instead they will show your display name in plain unlinked text. This way the messages you send can't be used to verify that you were their author.
You can enable this option in Settings > Privacy and Security > Forwarded Messages.
By the way, you can now also restrict who can view your profile photos.
Settings Search
Since the Settings section keeps getting bigger, we’ve added a search tool that allows you to quickly find the settings you're looking for.
You can also use this tool to find answers for questions related to our messaging app based on our FAQ.
Emoji Search and GIFs
GIF and Sticker Search has been upgraded on all mobile platforms — with an updated interface that looks better (and finds more cats). You can press and hold to preview a GIF before sending.
Sticker packs now have unique icons, which makes it easier to select the right set. Large GIFs and video messages on our messaging app are now streamed, so you can start watching them without waiting for them to fully download.
On our messaging app for Android, you can now use keywords in many languages to find a specific emoji. If we are missing a keyword for an emoji, you’re welcome to suggest it here — emoji search results will constantly update and improve in real time, without the need to update your app.
You’ll also see a list of related emoji when typing a message. If you like an emoji enough to send it without any accompanying text, the emoji will appear larger in the chat.
VoiceOver and TalkBack
We’ve added support for screen-reading features — VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android. These accessibility platforms give spoken feedback so that you can use our messaging app without needing to see the screen.

Jetzt kannst du ohne zeitliche Begrenzung gesendete oder empfangene Nachrichten entfernen. Du kannst auch jeden privaten Chat mit nur zwei Fingertipps sowohl von deinem Gerät als auch dem Gerät der anderen Person vollständig löschen.
Anonyme Weiterleitung
Um Ihre Privatsphäre zu vervollständigen, haben wir es auch ermöglicht, einzuschränken, wer deine Nachrichten weiterleiten kann. Quick reaktions with 3D animated emojis are absolutely easy to use and really fun.
Here’s how it works:
Have you received a message, which you want to quickly react on?
• Just hold the message pressed until after 1 second the reactions menu appears.
• Choose the suitable emoji from the reactions menu.
◦ If you want to send it instantly, just tap it.
◦ If you want to preview the 3D animation, hold it for a second and it will jump towards you.
• The message sender will instantly get this emoji and it will jump out of the message directly to his face. Yeahhhhhh!
Have you got lots of reactions on your sent messages?
• All the received reaction emojis are displayed at the message bottom.
• Each emoji is labelled with the counter how often you’ve got it. On the very left end, there’s the total number of reactions.
• When a new reaction arrives, the emoji jumps towards you with an amazing 3D effect.
• Who has sent all of them? - Tap on a received reaction emoji and you’ll see a list of who has reakted using this very emoji. The list is scrollable.
• By wiping the list to the left or to the right, you’ll get a list about the previous or next emoji. On the very left, there’s the list with all who have reacted in total.

Schnell-Reaktionen mit 3D-animierten Emojis sind super-einfach zu verwenden und machen echt Spaß.
So funktioniert's:
Hast du eine Nachricht erhalten, auf die du schnell reagieren möchtest?
• Halte einfach Nachricht gedrückt, bis nach 1 Sekunde das Reaktions-Menü erscheint.
• Im Reaktions-Menü wählst du ein passendes Emoji aus.
◦ Wenn du es sofort senden willst, tippe einfach darauf.
◦ Wenn du das Emoji erst in 3D-Bewegung sehen willst, dann halte es für 1 Sekunde gedrückt und es wird dir entgegensprinen.
• Der Absender der Nachricht erhält dieses Emoji direkt und es wird ihm aus der Nachricht direkt ins Gesicht springen. Jaaaaaa!
Hast du auf deine gesendete Nachrichten mehrere Reaktionen bekommen?
• Alle erhaltenen Reaktions-Emojis werden direkt unter der Nachricht angezeigt.
• Bei jedem Emoji steht die Anzahl, wie oft du es erhalten hast. Ganz links steht die Gesamtzahl aller Reaktionen.
• Wenn eine neue Reaktion kommt, springt dir das Emoji mit faszinierendem 3D-Effekt entgegen.
• Wer hat die wohl alle geschickt? - Tippe auf ein erhaltenes Reaktions-Emoji und Du siehst eine Liste, wer alles mit genau diesem Emoji reagiert hat. Du kannst die Liste scrollen.
• Wenn Du die Liste nach rechts oder links wischst, erscheint die entsprechende Liste für das vorherige oder nächste Emoji. Ganz links ist eine Gesamtliste mit allen, die reagiert haben.
