I graduated with honors from Rutgers University, majoring in History and minoring in Latin American Studies. During my time at Rutgers, my undergraduate research focused on twentieth and twenty-first century Latin American history, politics, literature and culture. After graduation, I became a New Jersey Certified Elementary School Teacher and was licensed to teach bilingual classes (English and Spanish) to hispanic students. I worked as a Bilingual/Bicultural Educator for five years, teaching Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, to students who had recently emigrated from Latin America. I designed lessons that helped pupils adapt to their new environment in order to become bilingual individuals with a strong sense of belonging, not only as Latinos, but as future Americans as well. While I was teaching, I had the chance to translate educational materials, an experience that allowed me to transition into the translation industry.
