I have a significant amount of in-country experience with Spanish, having spent time in various Spanish-speaking countries for personal travel, missions trips, and university studies. Most recently I studied abroad for a semester in Spain, taking courses such as Introduction to Translation and Cultural Anthropology of Latin America at the University of Seville.
After attending the 2012 American Translators Association conference, I became involved in a new "student involvement committee" of the ATA's Spanish Language Division. The committee, of which I am the chair, has begun to support students and newcomers to the translation profession by holding sessions at the annual ATA conference, creating an online forum for students, and running a "newbie" blog.
