Hi to all.



This question may be too basic for some folks, but I am a bit confused by the fact that some/most of European countries seem to delimit numbers every two/three digit using a period instead of using a comma.



For example, what would be the equivalent number of 100.00,00 Euros without taking the foreign exchange rates into consideration if it was followed by the US decimal notation system? Would that be 10,000.00 dollars? Could anyone also tell... See more

Hi Satnii,

I\'m not sure about all European languages, but in German and French texts the notation is:



xxx.xxx,xx - e.g. 123.456,78



whereas in the UK you would use



xxx,xxx.xx - e.g. 123,456.78

I just would like to add that Spanish works the same way as French and German.

About half of the Spanish speaking countries use the US/UK method.

Use a space every three digits Feb 20, 2003

To prevent any ambiguity, you can use a (non-breaking) space as the thousands separator and either a period or a comma (depending on the language) as a decimal point.



Example:

123 456.00 (English)

123 456,00 (most other European languages)
