How to easily insert Unicode characters?

Dear fellow Transit users,

What would be the easiest way to insert a Unicode character (like 8201, sometimes used to indicate a fixed space) in Transit NXT (WinXP)?

If you use them often, a macro is the best way. E.G., the hard space macro code is

I'm using « and » to indicate lesser/bigger than.

Thanks Antonín! I've created Shift+Ctrl+U = «u_8201» to insert the fixed space.
