I have already posted in the german forum. But so far got not answer there...
I have a translation project finished in Studio (its a FrameMaker based manual containing 10 chapters).
Yesterday when I wanted to save the target I got the message : "the target document cannot be created because a mismatch between the source document and the target document has been detected"

I have a translation project finished in Studio (its a FrameMaker based manual containing 10 chapters).
Yesterday when I wanted to save the target I got the message : "the target document cannot be created because a mismatch between the source document and the target document has been detected"
for 5 of those chapters (files). I had several segments where I had changed the tags (order of tags due to german syntax or adding spaces etc.) All WANTED changes. I have deleted all those and created a translation where all tags are just as in the source, and was able at last to save the target. (Now I will have some additional work in FrameMaker deleting all those changes again, but it worked at least...)
Now, I have one file which still can not be saved as target... I get the message: "the target document cannot be created because the tag structure in the translation Studio document is invalid."
I have changed all segments where I modified the tag structure, but there are two segments, I cannot change. Even if I copy the entire source segment into the target segment, I get the messages "order of tags has been changed" and "additional space after tag"...
It seems that the source segments are corrupt. I have never had these problems before (using Trados Frelance 7) Is there anyone who can help me?
I need this file to be saved as target by monday! (and its the longest one! More than 18.000 words)

PS: I still need a solution as well for those warnings preventing me from saving my target. I already disabled tag verification via Tools > Options > FrameMaker files , but I still got those messages when saving the target. Normally warnings where not preventing the conversion to MIF, wheren't they? ▲ Collapse

A friend of mine says the FM handling in Studio is awful and unreliable (I'm not a FM expert but I trust him at 100%) .
It seems the best solution is to export the TM and use TagEditor from T2007 Suiite you have in the package.
AFAIK the TTX workflow is still the best solution.
BTW. you can translate TTX in Studio if want.

I had the same problem with a big document in Word 2007, which I have translated with TagEditor. I received the same error message ".... tag structure invalid". If your original document is Word 2007 and contains a lot of big objects/images, and if you have changed the order of tags, then I think you have the same problem, even if you translate with Studio 2009. The problem is from MS Word filter, so if you haven't downloaded the Cumulative hotfix for Word 2007, I think you should do it. It wor... I was so happy that everything seemed to work so well in Studio! I BOUGHT this product BECAUSE it promised a better workflow with FrameMaker files!
I will complain at SDL... If this is something that can't be fixed in Studio, I am really disappointed.

One other thing: there must be a way to repair those two segments, no?
Can someone help me with this? In Freelance 7 I remember there was a button "repair document". Is there anything similar in Studio?

Again me: I have now changed all tags causing the warning messages! There are none left. But I still get the message : cannot create target because the tag structure in the Translation Studio document is invalid.
Is there a way to get details WHERE and WHY this structure is invalid?
Isn't there a kind of CMP file with details???

My friend says he's unable to process approx. 50% of his tricky but perfectly valid FM test files.
And Trados 2007 does... so...
I.e. you can still use Studio as editor (IMHO it's better than TagEditor) but it's not yet an independent tool.
I will complain at SDL... If this is something that can't be fixed in Studio, I am really disappointed.
If you have PSMA, maybe someone will answer...

IMHO no.

It's possible the file was already malformed on import.
Normally, the first thing I do is to fill in the target side with the source and export.
If it's OK, I start to translate and repeat the export test every 1-2 hours, especially on huge files (e.g. today, I passed 2 hours to repair/regenerate a TTX for a 140 MB PPTX file because my wife didn't test it while she was working in DVX and something went wrong...).
You have Trados Freelance?
Sometimes the X-Translate Wizard (aka Context TM aka Perfect match) permits to reuse the last known working version but you need the Pro version... and a backup...

IMHO no.
The only one error message type Trados ever issued was related to RTF, the offset was logged in the log file and the errors were marked by tw4winError style.
For a corrupt TTX file, it's no serious info, just a cryptic error message.
IMHO it's the same for Studio.
But I'm not a Studio guru.

Anyway, now I am getting the "Tag structure invalid" message that was discussed here in at least one of the files in the newly created project. I suspect that this is because I have merged quite a few segments, as this was neccessary for translation (I am translating from German to English, so verb comes at end!), so possibly the target text is now too far removed from the source for Studio to be able to handle it.
I am not prepared to go back and change all the tags again, as this would be extremely time-consuming. Incidentally, I did not change the order of them anywhere. I think the problem really does lie with the merging of segments, but what am I supposed to do in this case? Surely this is something that Studio should be able to handle!?
Do you think it is because the files are FM files? Would this also happen in Word?
Anyway, I would welcome any suggestions, as the deadline is upon me!

That's what it was in my case: a bug.
I was working with the first release of Studio then and Paul Filkin helped me converting the file into MIF-format finally.
We also created a new project, but all segments and tags were moved to some other places in the new project so my TM was no use...(I also needed different settings for my FM files due to cross references, hidden conditional text etc.)
He told me it was a bug and it would be solved in SP1.
I now use SP2 and am happy with all my FrameMaker projects. Never had any problems again.
