On 2009 I got the authorization from the Court of Queretaro, Mexico, to become a sworn translator, and that’s where half of my job as a translator comes from, as I have acquired a reputation of being extremely conscientious.
My principal objective when translating is to understand both the nature of the document and what is the use of the document for the client, in order to deliver the best and most useful interpretation. When I say useful, I mean that I complement my translations with footnotes that help the client to better understand and profit from his document, and (especially) in the case of sworn translations, provide a background that will make the document more comprehensible for the authorities, as the legal systems have great variations from one another.
I have an ample background regarding multicultural communication. With a major in journalism, I have always had access to vast research databases, and my belonging to an NGO has given me the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world: I worked as an interpreter in the international events of this NGO, translated their international mission declaration and was summoned to participate at the UNO Convention against Disarmament in 2009, which had place in Mexico City.
My larger objective is to facilitate comprehension and communication among individuals, especially when they seem to have nothing in common, because that’s where all the disagreements and conflicts come from. I teach English, French, and Spanish for foreigners, mostly expats, with whom I’ve had wonderful experiences.
