Hi everyone! I'm new here :3
This is my first job in translation and localization.
I have a question about LQA payment for a translation job. How much do you usually ask for a LQA per hour fee?
In my case, it should be a translation from Chinese into Italian.

Thank you!

LQAs are often done on a sample of the full text. In my case, it's usually 1000 words, and I'm expected to LQA it in one hour. If the translation is very bad, then I simply do less than 1000 words... whatever fits into an hour. My clients don't pay for more than 1 hour, so I don't work for more than 1 hour, in this particular type of job.

Initially, LQA is going to take you longer to do, as you get used to it, so initially you may end up spending more than 1 hour doing 1 hour's worth of work (and getting paid for just 1 hour).

As for the actual rate, well, LQA isn't particularly tiresome work, so you can just charge your normal hourly fee. The average hourly rate that ProZ.com members claim to charge, is $30 to $35 per hour. However, in my experience, LQA is often outsourced to middle-men agencies, so the agency that gets you to do it may not be willing to pay that much.
