The 3-day event is a wonderful opportunity to learn about so many different aspects of the language industry. But, horror of horrors!! At the bottom of the page, a line reads "The following exhibitors are in there booths, ready to answer your questions." Can it be true that at an event for LINGUISTS, this blatant misuse of "there" instead of "their" can appear on your page? Has noone else brought this to your attention? It´s terribly discrediting for your organization to hire people that don´t know how to use "there", "their" and "they´re" properly You need an editor/reviewer, to avoid this from happening again. Let me know if I can be of assistance ;)

Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this event.

Time From To Content
15:39 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All sounds familiar...
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All but i tend to leave it lately
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All @David: then you don't lower your price when you get more time?
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Also, I did that job through an agency, which doesn't help the negotiation process
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I don't understand why prices in Italy are so low.
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All I will never work again on those terms. That's for sure!
15:40 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All i prefer direct clients but they are not easy to come by
15:41 Jun 6, 2014 Manuela Ribecai: 1214732 All so, is it really possible to neciate with agencies?
15:41 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All @Barbare. Aha.
15:41 Jun 6, 2014 starlightaloud: 1624756 All depends
15:41 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Peter: you shouldn't ask me buth the Italian publishers
15:41 Jun 6, 2014 Manuela Ribecai: 1214732 All negociate*
15:42 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All @Manueal. Sure. You can always say "No". It's my opinion that they do not always find somebody to do something, although we might have that impression.
15:42 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All yes, we should stick to our conditions
15:42 Jun 6, 2014 Manuela Ribecai: 1214732 All "No" is not a negociation
15:42 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Some direct clients are a dream, especially when they do realise what an asset a good translation can be for them.
15:43 Jun 6, 2014 Henry Dotterer: 1 All I can lower an initial fee, but only until certain point
15:43 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I think that very often somebody designs a product, and thinks: We can get it sold at that price. Than they try to find somebody and want the price they are thinking of. If we say "no", then they just don't make the product. They look for something else. Maybe you don't notice that in Italy, but if you would look around in the Netherlands, you would notice very often that some products are not on the market here.
15:43 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Some agencies are still mentioning the 'credit crunch' to keep our fees down...
15:44 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All @Manuela: True, "no" is not negotiating, but it's a lesson to the client.
15:45 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I, as a client, alwasy get suspicious if somebody wants to lower a price. I'm always asking mysef: Hé, did he want to overcharge me?
15:45 Jun 6, 2014 Barbara Carrara: 934537 All Thing is, the agency/client can almost invariably find somebody cheaper...
15:45 Jun 6, 2014 Inna Ivanova: 1321490 All Hello, I have a question - do you expect more money when the documents need a lot of editing and formating?
15:45 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All Damm, video is gone again...
15:45 Jun 6, 2014 Peter Motte: 30753 All I get "TIme for viewing video has expired."
