What does "credential" exactly mean?

Most jobs are "credential required", what does it mean? And what about "certification"?

I don't think anyone can give a specific answer to that, much less the person who is asking for it.

Therefore if you have any kind of pertinent college degree or certification from a government agency, are certified by or belong to any translating/interpreting association (such as ATA), status as a sworn translator in countries where this exists, some coursework or a diploma course in the field from any educational institution, etc. then mention it.

If you do not have any of the above, you might consider at least joining some translating/interpreting association even though it does not offer any accreditation of your abilities. At the very least it is something to put down.

I think it's a perfect idea. Though in the U.S. there are associatios for almost everything that issue such "credentials", that's not the case in other countries...
