5 years ago I translated in different fields that I've changed a couple of years ago. Consequently, the quality of my present translations cannot really be compared to what I'm translating now.

I don't know how anyone can answer 'No' unless they are devolving into a Neanderthal.

Of course, we live and we learn.

They're probably better than they were 5 years ago and certainly better than they were 20 or more years ago. I've learned so much.

I'd prefer to say "I hope so". I don't know though. I used to have someone proofread everything and now I don't, so without feedback I can't really tell. My clients come back, but I'm not sure that they are in a position to judge the quality of my work.

Probably sort of yes-ish, as an out-and-out "yes" would suggest that my translations five years ago somehow needed improving (which they didn't). However, sometimes I have to translate updated versions of previous texts and I usually try to tweak, polish or somehow improve on the previous effort (which was nevertheless already fit for purpose in the first place).

Some of the source texts are better, too.
Certainly for me as I only seriously started about 10 years ago. But I find that you don't get a second chance to prove your work has improved, even by asking for another chance. Any advice for succeeding in this?
I totally agree with Julian Holmes.

And still learning...

Can I really judge it? I am more experienced, but also older, starting to forget, having difficulties to concentrate... I feel that in some fields, I used to be better.
