Understanding this to mean a period of at least two weeks when none of my clients sends me work to do, or outsources it to anyone else either. (Dream on…)
At least a day off | Sep 30, 2017 |
For my birthday last year my family gave me a weekend in Paris, but I didn't get it until my husband's birthday 3 months later ... the weather was better in March anyway!
But that was a special birthday, and on the actual day I still had to work, alas.
I have been dreaming of a nice dinner in a Michelin star restaurant in Lisbon (http://www.restauranteleven.com/homepage) for some time, so maybe for my next birthday? My best birthday present ever was offered some 40 years ago by my late husband: he took me for a week-end in Paris…
P.S. Happy International Translation Day everyone!

Whatever the hypothetical translator would like as a present.
High price of software= thoughtful present | Sep 30, 2017 |
Considering the high cost of some of the software translators use, I believe buying your translator friend or colleague the latest software version of their fav. CAT tool would be considered thoughtful and heart warming. I would.

By the way, I came home from my local public library with two John Le Carré novels, hardcover versions, for free (they give free stuff away sometimes).

Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 08:54 English to Spanish + ... Other: a lifetime Adobe Creative Suite online membership | Sep 30, 2017 |
Since I also do multilingual typesetting for some of my clients, I would like to have a lifetime subscription to Adobe CC applications. The outlay is not too onerous, about $250-300/year for all applications, but year-on-year it adds up.
Another thought: gift cards. If your gift target is a heavy online shopper, get her an Amazon gift card.
