If it happened, I’d ask the client to correct it. I must say though that some of my Brazilian peers here on Proz do misspell my name quite often: I’ve seen Theresa, Thereza, Tereza… | | | neilmac Tây Ban Nha Local time: 08:10 Spanish to English + ...

I hovered for a long time between Ask them to correct it (which I would if they had registered my last name as Anderson instead of Andersen)
and Ignore it (which I regularly do when they call me Cristine, Kristine or whatever.)
But seriously, if a client wants to set up a CAT tool for me, I am probably not going to work for them very long!

One of my clients has a password for me, so I can access their TMs with my CAT, but that is not recognisable as my name, and I still use my own CAT.
I can't concentrate on translating if I have to think about the CAT all the time! ▲ Collapse

There are translators out there who are too timid even to ask a customer to spell their name right?!
I have spent most of my life living in a linguistically challenged country incapable of putting any accents on any letters, so in some ways I have long lived a double life as both Mr Schroder and Mr Schröder (we’ll leave Mr Schroeder, Mr Shroder, Mr Skoda and Mr Can You Spell That Again out of this), but my customers always seem to get it right. | | | Baran Keki Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ Local time: 10:10 Thành viên English to Turkish
I don't want them to enter my name in their CAT tool in any shape or form (misspelled, initialed, abbreviated etc.) 'User 791' will do nicely. But no, they must have it appear on the bottom right hand corner perfectly in full (first name, middle name, last name) for everybody to know exactly who I am. I guess I have to congratulate them for their diligent efforts to spell my name correctly instead of bitching about privacy, anonymity etc.
I think you mean my "ex-client". | | | Kay Denney Pháp Local time: 08:10 French to English
I would politely point out that my name is spelled wrong, and if they don't immediately offer to correct it for me I would then politely ask them to correct it. If ever they have another person with a similar name on their roster (there are others, I've googled them), it could cause problems. I don't want the other guy getting my money!!
