For at least a decade I have been receiving work mostly in EN/PT (even from French clients) when before things were rather balanced between EN/PT and FR/PT and very unbalanced in my other language pairs (ES/PT and IT/PT).

In the Netherlands "everyone can English", and it has been this way for decades - already long before I started as a freelance translator. But the only decline in translation assignments of certain text types I've seen is more likely to be caused by machine translation and AI: these texts are still translated, but automatically in these days. With my specialisations, it hasn't significantly harmed my business, also because there are legal requirements for translation of many texts that I translate.

Same here. I am wondering if we could see this trend reverse with the increase of MT as it mostly affects English and it often serves as a pivot for other languages. I might have received a little bit more of FR/LV work lately, although it is still not enough to draw any conclusions and there could be other reasons for that as well.
