Hi there,
I received a job offer from TM Town. The person is supposed to work for a platform called "Crafted Translators".
The job offer looks too attractive to be real (big project + high rate even before negociating + "the project matches perfectly with my expertise).
This is probably a scam, anyone heard before about Crafted Translators?
Nothing in the Blue Board and their website looks suspicious as well in some details.

Hi!
I've received a similar job offer from the same people. The website and all the information in there is fake. They asked me to translate a document from 2002 that it is already translated and available on internet. Don't trust them. It is definitely a scam.
Yeah, I already received such offer, and it was vague enough to fit any language pair + a bit of personalization, easily out of the same ProZ DB.
I tried to login to TmTown, that I remember linking from ProZ, and in fact shows error now when clicking on "Login with ProZ credentials",
So, yeah, scam. | | | I also received a good to be true offer from CraftedFreelancers via TMTown | Oct 6 |
I was able to log in to TM Town via my ProZ credentials without a problem and I could see the message directly on TM Town. However, I haven't been active translating for a while so it was a red flag to me to receive such a good offer claiming my profile was appealing. They are interested in translation from English to Spanish to Spanish from me. They are interested in translation from English to Spanish to Spanish from me. I checked the Contact Us page of Crafted Freelancers and they have a Google Maps photo of the US, however the address is a mix of a city in Cardiff, a Postcode/Zipcode from North of Wales and the phone number is from Northern Ireland. Additionally, the domain was only registered a month ago and you cannot see the owner of the domain as they contracted a company that protects their identity. I would say that with your comments and my additional findings this is a scam.

This is the email text I was sent.

Knowing that others have been receiving similar messages I am confident now that this is scam and will not waste any more time with it. ▲ Collapse | | | iomlk91 Ac-hen-ti-na English to Spanish + ... I received the same e-mail | Oct 6 |
Just passing by to say I received the same e-mail, found no references, besides their weird webpage, and I don't ended up here until I searched specifically "crafted freelancers scam" on google. So yeah, the very same e-mail. Thanks for the info. | | | PundaLoc Ac-hen-ti-na Local time: 07:26 Thành viên kể từ 2023 English to Spanish + ...
Got the exact same email. Shame that you have to be immediately suspicious nowadays of employers offering you good rates. Definitely a scam.

Thanks for sharing it in the forum. First time I get something like this
A colleague said that after you finish the job they send you a check, but they call you saying they made a mistake and you have to send some money back. Later you find that the check has no funds.

Yesterday, 10/6/2024, I received a mail from that same name, asking me to translate the same 145 pages movie script... How sad that this was a scam. I was really excited to get another job lol | | | Red Light: offer from craftedfreelancers through TM-Town | Oct 6 |

In the past I have been “almost” victim of some frauds with translations offered by scammers through whatsapp and email. These groups offer highly paid translations of old books and texts, posing as well-known publishers and translation companies. They offer immediate payment upon receipt by banktransfer. But there, they send you to a “payment agent” who asks you to deposit 10% of your payment in order to deposit you. Logically, after “paying them” you lose all contact. For this reason I am concerned about a translation job I am currently working on. I would like to know if anyone has received an offer from craftedfreelancers through TM-Town.

I'm originally from Argentina, but recently moved to Spain. I received the same email on September 30, seemed suspicious, got contacted again today, saying they would pay according to the quality of my translation.
Everything seemed really suspicious, thank you very much for opening this forum thread, we need to look out for each other.

The document to translate was exactly the same (title) as the one you mention here!

I recieved an exact offer on Saturday, 5th October, 2024. In my case the email was from someone called Katelyn Regan, email [email protected]. One of the suspicious matters in this cases is that they give you a big and interesting projecto with no translation test before.
