It's the second time in a row that this event makes my Translation Day something to look forward to! Great presentations, lots of insightful comments and conversations. The only wish for the future would be having more companies and direct clients invited to this event, as it is a huge opportunity for all of us to network.
As a presenter I would like to thank Drew for support and professionalism, and all the audience - for their attention and interesting questions. Thank you!
I had the pleasure of contributing to the event and of attending one of them - very good range of topics. If I had been able to take the day off I would have accessed more of the presentations in real time. Great coordination Drew!
Someone already does that, Lucia. I can't find the URL now, but I think it's a great idea.

I think tech services could be a good option, right? We have certain tech knowledge that we acquired out of necessity and that others don't (maybe yet), so why not charging for those skills?

DTP. Interesting. I wanted to add that as an extra service for my clients. The idea was not actually to do DTP, because that's a highly specalised field. Moreover, if you want to do DTP, you should ask yourself some questions like: how am I getting photograpsh? Drawings? I know some people who do DTP work, and they all have an arts education.

Voice overs and so on demand a good voice, and some acting talent. Actors will tell you that half of the acting is speaking. That explains why so often singers try their hands at acting.

Not sure, it sounds more like something you would charge by final product perhaps?

Yes, but if you would be paid by the word for eg a terminology list, than you might end up with a necessarily high word price. I think some of those tech services should be paid by the hour, and done on the client's site, so that he can notice your charging him a ligitimate amount of hours.

Hey, that's annoying: the link to the list of specialities dissappeared from my screen. But it's a list of Proz.com itself. It should be easily found.

Mmm, I consider translating and writing (whatever kind) as two very different beasts.
